Your dog isn't stubborn!

  1. Inconsistent

This is what I mean:

  • You sometimes stick to your rules and sometimes don't.

  • You train for 1 day with method A, then B, then C, then D, back to A

  • You don't stick with training and sometimes train for a week, then don't train at all

2. Unclear

This is what I mean:

  • Your rules aren’t clear for your dog or they regularly change or not everyone in the household sticks to the same rules.

  • You keep changing the words for training.

  • You reward ‘poor effort’. For example your dog gets a reward no matter if they performed good or bad.

We are all a bit inconsistent or unclear at times and that's sometimes okay.

We can't always be on our A game. But we do need to recognise that sometimes (or often times) our dogs behaviour comes from us not sticking to something, more than them being stubborn.

Remember, they don't speak our language and are trying the best with what we give them!
